Cardinal Place COVID-19 Protocol
As a licensee of the RHRA, Cardinal Place has received clarification on the expectations regarding visitors to retirement homes in Ontario.
Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health has recommended that retirement homes and long-term care homes allow only essential visitors. In the context of retirement homes, the ministry is identifying essential visitors as those who have a resident who is dying or very ill.
Visitors will be actively screened. Those who fail screening will not be permitted to enter. No other visitors will be permitted to enter the premises, instead they will be asked to keep in touch with loved ones by phone or other technologies, as available.
To protect the well-being of our members, we at Cardinal Place will be screening visitors with immediate effect. We ask for your understanding during this difficult time.
Our staff are working only at Cardinal Place and making personal sacrifices in their home lives to ensure they are not exposed to the coronavirus.
The Cardinal Place Care Team is now doing all the extra work formerly done by government-funded outside agencies.
Packages dropped off for seniors are quarantined for 4 days as we now know the virus can survive on plastic and cardboard surfaces.
No take-out or fast-food is allowed as the containers may be contaminated.
We've added a cook, busboys, cleaners, Personal Support Workers (PSW) and Registered Practical Nurses (RPN) to our staff. Doubling up our staff ensures we are covered if someone gets sick.
