About Cardinal Place
Cardinal Place is a labour of love for Mike Cardinal and his team. In 2014 Mike decided to create a custom designed retirement residence specifically to provide Windsor retirees with affordable accommodation and personal care in their twilight years. In his career as a Canadian Certified Counselor and Windsor resident Mike has seen a proliferation of corporate owned and remotely managed retirement institutions enter the region and decided that discerning Windsorites might prefer a retirement home where the resident's best interests are the top priority.
The building, located in historic Old Sandwich Town, is full of character, not least because it was originally a Catholic convent known as "Holy Names Residence", for the teaching sisters of St. Mary's Academy. The current building was solidly constructed of concrete in 1977. In 2014 the building was extensively renovated to the very latest provincial standards, including a sprinkler system throughout, to provide even more safety and security. Room and suite choices feature wood-look vinyl tile floors out of consideration for those who have carpet or dust allergies. These are much easier to keep clean and hygienic. (Throw rugs or area rugs are not allowed in any retirement homes.)
Family owned and operated, Mike, Anh, or their hand picked staff are available 24/7 to provide the highest quality of care. All care and medication needs are meticulously recorded in a state-of-the-art paperless system. This system leaves more time for team members to be focused on your needs. Even the phone system is designed to keep you in touch with loved ones and immediately available assistance. The convent chapel doubles as a group healing/therapy space with a professional-dance designed sprung floor in order to be easy on participant's joints. These are just a few of a long list of amenities and services that have been developed specifically for your convenience, comfort, safety and enjoyment. You or your family member can be assured of personalized care in an inclusive and friendly environment, in short, a retirement home like no other in the Windsor-Essex region. Cardinal Place is not just a retirement home, it is smart retirement living.
Cardinal Place is licensed and rigorously inspected by the Ontario Retirement Home Regulatory Authority. We are pleased with the inspector's feedback that we are above expectations for such a young retirement home. At the same time, we gladly meet any challenges to continuously improve, meet and exceed standards and expectations.
We are also inspected and audited by Windsor Fire Prevention, Electrical Safety Authority, Windsor-Essex Health Unit, Elevator Service and Safety Standards, Security One Fire Systems Maintenance, Water back flow equipment tests, City of Windsor Building Inspectors, and more.
